AUCTION TERMS & CONDITIONS--
PERSONAL INFORMATION: During the bidder registration process, we collect your personal information in order to verify your identity, and to validate your registration as a bidder. Bidders must be of legal age. (If a bid is believed to have been placed by a minor, all bids are nullified, and the item forfeits to Rideau Retro Antiques & Collectibles, subject to a re-stocking fee as set below.) We do not sell, trade or give your personal information to any other companies.
PAYMENT: There is no cost to register to bid. Upon closure of an auction, you will receive an invoice by e-mail, outlining the item(s) you have won. Payment is to be made at pickup by Cash, Cheque (with ID), Charge Card, or E-Transfer. N.S.F. Cheques will be subject to a surcharge of $75.
BIDDING NOTIFICATION: You have the option to be notified by e-mail if you have been outbid on a particular item. Please note that notices are not sent in the last 2 hours of the sale.
BUYER'S PREMIUM: All purchases are subject to a 10% buyer's premium, unless otherwise noted.
PICKUP: Date(s) and time(s) for pickup of items will be indicated in the information section of the auction sale. Information can also be obtained by calling our office (692-4036). Items are to be picked up during the set timeframe only. Items that are not picked up during that timeframe will be considered abandoned, and the items become the property of Rideau Retro Antiques & Collectibles. If alternate arrangements for pickup are required, they must be made before the close of the pickup timeframe. Alternate arrangements must be acknowledged by Rideau Retro staff-leaving a voicemail or e-mail message with no acknowledgement does not suffice. Rideau Retro Antiques & Collectibles reserves the right to re-sell, or otherwise dispose of abandoned items, at their discretion. Forfeited items may be subject to a re-stocking fee of up to 25% of the winning bid price. Should you require someone other than the individual named on the invoice to pick up your items, proof of identification may be required, as well as written permission from the individual named on the invoice. All efforts will be made to ensure that items are given to the appropriate person (or their approved/designated alternate individual). If written permission is not provided, a telephone call may be accepted in its place.
CONDITION OF ITEMS: All items are sold as-is, where is, with no guarantees or other warrantees as to functionality, or condition. Items are not thoroughly tested, or cleaned, unless otherwise noted. Faults will be disclosed wherever possible, if known, but ultimately items are sold as-is. All sales are final, no returns, exchanges, refunds or credit. No claims will be permitted. All items are sold for use at buyer's risk. Rideau Retro Antiques & Collectibles assumes no responsibility for damage, injury or other harm related to the use or operation of items purchased. Descriptions are believed to be accurate, but are not warranted.
LIABILITY: Rideau Retro Antiques & Collectibles, its associates or affiliates are not to be held responsible for any injury, loss, theft, damage or other mishaps pertaining to persons, items or property before, during or after the sale, viewing or pick-up.
RESERVE BIDS: On occasion, items are sold with a reserve bid. The use of a reserve bid will be stated. This means that the winning bid must meet or exceed a certain amount. Should you have the highest bid on an item, and not win due to not meeting the reserve, you may call our office to increase your bid, if desired, however the amount of the reserve bid shall remain confidential.
AUCTION HOUSE RECORDS: In the event of a disagreement between your bidding records, and those of the auction company, those of the auction company shall be accepted as correct.
SOFT CLOSE: Items will close at regular intervals. Should a bid be received in the last few minutes of the sale, the closing time on the lot will be extended, until no additional bids are received.
BIDDING STRATEGY: The auction software gives bidders the ability to pre-set their maximum bid, and allow the system to bid "on their behalf" up to that set amount, as more bids are placed, according to the bid increment schedule. (ie: The next required bid amount is $20. You can set your maximum bid on the item to $45. The system will place your bid at $20, and once a higher bid is received, the system will place another bid on your behalf, up to your set maximum amount.)
CATALOGUE ERRORS & OMISSIONS: Should a description and photograph not match, the description will take precedence.
SHIPPING: Shipping of items can be arranged upon request, for an additional charge of 5% per item plus shipping costs, above and beyond buyer's premium. Rideau Retro Antiques & Collectibles reserves the right to determine what items qualify for shipping, based on size, weight, fragility or other factors. Rideau Retro Antiques & Collectibles is not responsible for any damages or losses during the shipping process. All items are the responsibility and liability of the buyer upon payment.
OTHER TERMS: Once a bid is placed, that is considered an agreement to pay that amount for the item. Once placed, a bid cannot be revoked. All items remain the property of Rideau Retro Antiques & Collectibles until full payment is received. Once paid, items become the property and responsibility of the buyer, and Rideau Retro Antiques & Collectibles, its associates and affiliates are not responsible for any damages, losses or other mishaps. Rideau Retro Antiques & Collectibles reserves the right to make changes to the terms and conditions prior to the start of any sale. Rideau Retro Antiques & Collectibles is not liable for any defects, errors or 'bugs' pertaining to the functionality of the online bidding platform.
